BSides Talk

Social Engineering Has a Grammar: Reverse-Engineering the Sequence Behind Real Attacks

Presented by Jordan Schoenherr, PhD, Chief Scientist, Humanix

Tues, Aug 4  ·  5:00pm  ·  The Tuscany  ·  Ground Truth, Florentine E

Social engineering is often described as a set of techniques or warning signs. Analysis of real interaction data suggests a different structure, one that unfolds in sequence and shapes how each stage is interpreted. This talk draws on more than 1,200 call transcripts to show how role cues, requests, and verification steps combine into recognizable patterns that can inform detection, red teaming, and training.

Private Dinner

Human Intelligence, Served Rare

Hosted by Jordan Schoenherr, PhD, Chief Scientist, and Keith Stewart, CEO, Humanix

Tues, Aug 4  ·  6:30pm  ·  Lawry's The Prime Rib Las Vegas

Following Jordan’s BSides talk, we’re hosting an invite-only dinner across the street with Jordan, Keith, and a small group of security leaders. Nearly three years after MGM and Caesars made Vegas hospitality a case study in interactive social engineering, we’ll pick up the conversation where the talk leaves off: how attackers are still turning people, trust, and pressure into access. Please note that seats are limited and for security leaders only.
