SAN FRANCISCO, CA – October 8, 2026 – Humanix, the company behind the Human Threat Detection and Response platform for social engineering attacks, was today announced as the winner of the "User Behavior Analytics Security Solution of the Year" award in the 10th annual CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards program. As an independent market intelligence organization, CyberSecurity Breakthrough highlights the most innovative companies and technologies driving progress in information security.
Humanix was selected for extending detection and response to interactive social engineering, an increasingly common attack class that existing security tools largely miss. Traditional user behavior analytics, for example, looks for anomalies in logins, access patterns, and file movement. An employee manipulated into resetting a password, changing MFA settings, or bypassing verification is still an authorized user performing a familiar task. The resulting activity therefore looks legitimate to those systems. Humanix instead analyzes the language, identity claims, behavior, and workflow context of the interactions that lead to these actions.
The Humanix Platform connects through enterprise APIs to the voice, chat, email, help desk, and service desk systems where these interactions take place. Its conversational AI, trained on cognitive psychology and social engineering attack patterns, evaluates each interaction for three categories of attack indicators: Procedure Violation, Manipulation, and Impersonation. A Procedure Violation is an attempt to induce someone to bypass a required process. Pressure or deception intended to override judgment indicates Manipulation. Humanix flags Impersonation when identity claims conflict with behavioral or contextual data. Detected attacks generate alerts with supporting context and recommended response actions for security teams.
The same procedure-aware analysis also supports assurance across routine interactions with no attack indicators. Humanix determines the extent that required procedures, such as verifying identity before a password reset or MFA change, are consistently performed. Security teams can identify and proactively address recurring failures, measure compliance with critical procedures, and produce evidence that controls operate as intended.
“Attackers don't always need to break into enterprise systems. They can manipulate an employee into resetting a password, changing MFA settings, or granting access on their behalf. Traditional user behavior analytics may see legitimate system activity while missing the social engineering behind it,” said Keith Stewart, Founder & CEO of Humanix. “We built Humanix to detect these threats by analyzing the interactions that lead to them. We're honored that CyberSecurity Breakthrough has recognized our approach to user behavior analytics and proud of our team's work to bring detection and response to the human layer.”
Now in its 10th year, the CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards program received thousands of nominations from organizations in more than 20 countries in 2026. The annual program honors companies, products, and technologies advancing innovation in cybersecurity.
"Humanix helps organizations defend the human layer against social engineering attacks. Human threats can originate inside or outside the organization. The rise of AI attacks has made the social engineering problem worse. Training alone cannot overcome the natural desire to help and to trust," said Steve Johansson, managing director, CyberSecurity Breakthrough. "Humanix detects the social engineering behind a risky action. The platform extends behavior analytics to the interactions where attackers attempt to influence human decisions."
Humanix stops social engineering attacks. The Humanix Human Threat Detection and Response platform uses conversational AI to continuously monitor for these attacks on your people across the communication channels where they occur. By detecting social engineering as it happens, Humanix equips you to respond before an attempted attack becomes a breach. The company is backed by Acrew Capital, Boldstart Ventures, and Evolution Equity Partners and was named a 2026 RSAC Innovation Sandbox Top 10 finalist. For more information, visit humanix.ai.
